Last week I got this blog page published, had my ambitious little posting schedule written down and I blazed forward with the naivete of idealism... ::please note, my own mother has referred to me as her 'cynical, world-weary pessimist'::
I should've realized that I would experience a crochet episode of Murphy's Law- if you are unfamiliar with that phrase, it says," Anything that can go wrong will!"
In all honesty, by the time posting day came around, it felt more like a re-enactment of "The Out-of-Towners".

If you've ever seen it (or the Jack Lemmon1970 original), you'll remember that the entire story line is a series of mishaps, accidents, and frustrations from beginning to end...
Yes, that's how every single step worked out this week!
First, after painstakingly filming my first crochet basics tutorial video- the SD card for my video camera gave up the ghost! Granted, it was original to the second hand camera- and did I know that there was a limited shelf life for such things? Of course not!
After mooching a spare SD card from my husband's photography camera ( with his blessing of course), and starting over with "Take 726" of filming what should've been a simple " how-to", coughing fits and an allergy tickle had me clearing my throat throughout its entirety.
Next came the editing episodes, trying to piece together some semblence of coherence with what little I was able to salvage...
As I was trying to streamline my clips and insert some pleasant background music, every single frame went black in the editor and wouldn't play. Amidst rising blood pressure, I scrapped any attempt at professionalism ( not that any of my bumbling efforts could've been misaken for it) and managed to save the original clips with stony background silence.
I'm pretty sure some tears were shed at this point. But those wouldn't be the last!
I'm not anywhere close to a technologically adept individual. For my age, I'm certain I'm a technologically illiterate specimen who barely manages to function. Past operating a VHS/DVD combo player and using the internet on my phone, I have to ask someone else. Every step of getting this website up has been an uncomfortable stretch of abilities I don't have, so I hope you'll continue to bear with me as I stumble along.
At this point of the week, my idyllic schedule had me posting the Youtube tutorial and uploading the "how-to" article with a beginner pattern. Were either of these things finished and polished to my satisfaction?
I hope you're chuckling at the irony I experienced.
Reader, none of it was ready.
I opened up the pattern to find that the formatting had shifted itself to a West Coast area code, the blog post draft hadn't saved three of my paragraphs that I had tried to work on in pieces throughout the week's assorted mishaps, and after trying to load for an hour the Youtube video was too big.
But the show must go on, right?
Did I scramble to split up my shots into smaller videos?
Did the video editor on my older, refurbished laptop run like molasses in January?
Did the letter 't' on my keyboard die so that I had to pound it ridiculously hard to make it work to fix my blog post?
Did I instantly realize how many words I use that need the letter 't'?
Did I try to find as many alternatives to the sticky key as I could?
Did my computer battery die at the cafe I was mooching wifi from since my phone's was running out?
Did I shut down everything in disgust and talk myself into quitting on the whole experiment before I even got it off the ground?
Did I spill 2\3's of my iced coffee when I missed a turn on my way to an appointment immediately following all of this?
The answers to all of these burning questions is "Yes"...
So, dear reader, despite all of my efforts this week- I don't have the post or tutorial video I wanted ready for you.
Am I going to call it a day and try again next week with slightly more realistic expectations?
Again, the answer is yes.
I hope you'll come back to see how it all pans out.
Until then, I hope all of my mishaps, frustrations, and kerfuffles have at least given your day the touch of comedy that it gave mine...
Go spread some shenanigans and laugh at the chaos, it may actually help make someone's day a little brighter.
May your coffee not spill, your 't' button work, and your week go more smoothly than mine has!
